Avast For Mac Troubleshooting

Avast Free Antivirus for Mac is Avast's answer to concerns about how to browse safely. The application is packaged with a brand-new, easy-to-understand graphical user interface, with access to all features available at single click.
Avast Security for Mac Avast software is the most popular and, for many, the best antivirus for Mac. Developed by Czech company Avast Software, it has been available in 43 languages since 1988. The following Mac Free Antivirus issues can be fixed with small changes to the program settings. What does the 'Unable to Scan' message mean? In the Avast Reports screen, the Unable to Scan message indicates that a complete scan was not performed on the number of files specified. I quite strongly recommend that people avoid Avast! For mac like the plague, it has been a source of never ending technical problems for me and has a poor reputation for false positives. It is now installing Adware that nobody wants and everyone is complaining about on their forums.
The application's onscreen tools are well-organized, and its live graphics enhance the feeling of safety -- you can see that the antivirus software doesn't sleep and is always working to protect you from any viruses circulating on the Web. Avast's free software provides three shields to protect your computer: a file system shield, an e-mail shield, and a Web shield. With all three representing a door to your computer, Avast does a great job of watching these entrances.
However, this comes at a cost, and we don't mean money: as soon as you launch the app, you'll notice a slight drop in your computer's performance, which is due to Avast being at work scanning your entire computer for infected files. Secondly, it affects your browser's performance, as it also scans the pages you attempt to navigate to for viruses through the extensions it installs in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome browsers. We did find its notification feature handy, as it informs the user about its actions, so you'll always know what the software is up to.
Overall, Avast Antivirus for Mac is a nice addition to your Mac toolbox. It's free and very easy to use.

What do you need to know about free software?
Hello,
I'm surprised to hear that you received Avast through Adobe - from my experience Adobe products come bundled with McAfee. If you have another antivirus you would like to use, you can download an installer for another antivirus, uninstall Avast, then install the new antivirus.
I am suspecting that Avast is complaining because you have an older version of Flash and Firefox (and if you have the free version, it will likely also tell you about the paid version features). You can update Firefox by going to:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium are regularly tested for compatibility with the latest products from the major antivirus vendors. In addition to the partial list below, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Yes, in fact, that's the way it SHOULD be done. You should have a reputable virus scanner with up to date definitions and a good Malware scanner like Malwarebytes, both running real time protection. Avast Security and Avast Security Pro are the two Avast plans that are compatible with Mac platform. The former is a freeware that, much like Avast Free Antivirus for Windows, comes with basic anti-malware security, web and email shields, and a WiFi security scanner (checks your network and connected devices for vulnerabilities). Dec 13, 2016 Ok, I understand now 'It means that Malwarebytes will be set to register in the Action Center ' But, just registering in the Action center doesn't mean is compatible with some other AV's (Avast!, as per OP); means just that: it is registered in the Action Center. Is avast for mac compatible with malwarebytes.
As for Flash, you can download an update here (if you don't want the bundle, be sure to uncheck McAfee or whatever software is offered in the middle pane under Optional offer):
