Run Avast Scan Now

A little while ago I noticed my 5 month old MBP wasn't running properly. It gradually got worse till the point where it became unusable as apps were crashing relentlessly. I brought it to the genius bar. They said the hard drive was a lemon and replaced it. Well that fixed absolutely nothing. Took it home and had the same problems so I decided to start running some anti-malware software. Adware medic, Sophos, Avast, Clam and a couple others. They all found infected files and deleted them. This helped immensely and now my computer is running ALMOST perfectly. I feel it still isn't 100%. It's still slightly laggy to open drop down items from big folders, I get the occasional little glitch like a program not responding, some plugins I have are a glitchy and cause my software to crash but I think that's just cause they were buggy to begin with. My main concern is when I run Avast it says there are hundreds of files it cannot scan. Are these malicious? Little app factory. How did I get rid of them? If they are not the culprit, then what else can I do to make my mac run perfectly? Are there any better antivirus programs that I am unaware of?

The status message 'Unable to scan' means that the file could not be scanned, possibly due to an encrypted ZIP archive or because the files are currently in use. The status does not mean that there is anything wrong with the file, only that it is not available for scanning. AVAST-UNable to scan: Jump to solution When running an antivirus scan using the lastest AVAST program 4.8), at the end of the scan an Action window appears with a lot of files that say 'unable to scan: Archive is password protected.'

Yes it is easy to set up and use but god forbid you need any customer support. Avast security for mac safe. I have since canceled my subscription, and I wouldn’t reccommend this app to anyone. Domtron83 WorksMostly I wouldn’t recommend Avast.

Avast Scan Now

Hello, my problem is exactly as stated in the title. I'm new to this site so bear with me if I sound confusing or if I'm posting in wrong categories. :v
I've been having problems with antivirus programs in general.
I've been using Avast for the last couple years and it was doing fine until a few days ago when I booted up my laptop and it warned me that it had stopped working after about 10 minutes of serious lag (which is not normal for my laptop).
I tried uninstalling it from the Control Panel but the uninstallation process crashed due to an apphang. I then tried using aswclear (Avast uninstall utility) to clean it out directly to no avail as it said it could not run after downloading due to corrupted/invalid file signature. I then simply saved aswclear and ran it in safe mode, and that apparently uninstalled/deleted Avast from my laptop.
Tried reinstalling Avast again but after the setup.exe is installed and the security scan completes the download tells me 'The signature of avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe is corrupt or invalid' giving me the option to delete the setup or view downloads.
Saving the setup and trying to run it in safe mode doesn't work either, it tells me the same thing.
I downloaded AVG (again, as I used it a couple years back for a bit and it worked fine but switched to Avast as I found it better) so I would be protected and to see if I picked up a virus that corrupted Avast; didn't pick up anything. It worked for a day or two and then that had a corrupted error that severely slowed my laptop. Went through hell to get it off my laptop as it wouldn't uninstall. Eventually came to doing a system restore to a point right before I downloaded the dang thing and after I uninstalled Avast.
I still feel as though there are leftover AVG or Avast files in my laptop or leftover registry.
I have run CCleaner, Malwarebytes and Norton Power Eraser to find any leftover files, viruses or malware causing me these problems but they don't seem to be picking up on anything. I attempted using Kaspersky virus scan but it crashed on me as well due to an apphang and continues to do so everytime it successfully downloads and I click the Next option.
I am not having any other problems with my laptop besides this. I'm pretty frustrated as I'm browsing unprotected right now. :
Malwarebytes still works though. It just appears to be Antivirus programs that my laptop won't cooperate with. I want to stick with Avast as it's the best free antivirus program I've used.
I should also mention that Avast works fine on my desktop which operates on Windows Vista.
I've heard Avast updates in the past have come up corrupted but this problem only seems to be occurring for me on my laptop..
Can anyone give me a solution to my problem and why this is occurring? I'm not even sure of what a corrupted or invalid file signature means.
Using an Asus laptop and Windows 7 64 bit.
Thanks in advance.
